This is a close up of one of winter pea flowers out in the field.

Preparation for spring planting is keeping me busy. Currently a field roughly measuring 5,000 square feet is in production with various overwintering crops. The pea fields will transition into plantings of diverse warm weather crops more than doubling the productive growing space.  The surface irrigation, flooding of fields, via the historic acequia presents several considerations when figuring out what to plant where. Some areas distribute water more evenly than others, some areas are much more difficult to get water to. Things like this guide crop selection. Plants that require more or less water, or water more or less frequently should be planted accordingly.
